The Gruffalo Comes To Bincombe
Here are 2 reports on the excellent Year 2 Gruffalo assembly written by two Year 2 children:

A report about our assembly

Today it was our assembly.

It was amazing. First we showed the pickers.

Next we did our dance, it was good.

After that Tiffany and Khara did the recipe. Meanwhile William and Dylan wear the projector. Finally we did the prayer when we had finished

We were allowed to go and see our mums and dads.

I felt happy because I did well.

Our Netball Tournament

On the 17th March 2010 the school had a netball tournament at Budmouth College. The players were: James, Jessica, Summer, Shannon, Sydney, Aimee and Millie. We had three matches lined up and we were ready, or so we thought......

The first match  was against St Augustines A-team, but sadly we lost 10-0; not so good. We were really stressed, well, mostly Shannon was.

After we played St. Johns we lost 7-1. Ok, I guess at least we scored 1! We were thinking to our selves: “We are not going to get the trophy!”

We played our last match and we lost 5-0, so we were all disappointed with our selves.

The presentation came and there was first place trophy and a fair play trophy. Wyke Regis won first place but the fair play trophy went to..... BINCOMBE VALLEY!!! We were all chuffed with ourselves!

Report by Millie and Shannon!

And a special thank you & well done to our netball Super-Coach Mrs Mason.

Our Netball Match

On Thursday the 4th of March the school had a Netball match against Southwell Primary. In the team there were: Shannon, Jessica, Summer, Aimee, Millie, Sydney and James. It was a cup match. We started training and then Southwell turned up.

In the beginning of the first quarter there were Aimee and Millie who were goal shooter and goal attack with Shannon as our Centre. In the first minute we went up to 1-0 and then by the end of the quarter the score was 3-0. All goals were scored by Millie.

When it was the second quarter with Shannon and Sydney goal shooter and goal attack and Summer as the Centre, the time went quick but Sydney made a dramatic goal for us!

Soon after Shannon got us another three goals making the score 7-0. We were tired but it was nearly the end of the quarter. The whistle went leaving us with the score of 7-0 for now.....

When we came on for the third quarter we had Jessica and Summer as goal shooter and goal attack and Aimee as the Centre. At the 2nd Minute of it Summer boosted us up two more goals getting us to 9-0. We were tired and then the other team scored a goal but Aimee scored a goal and SUDDENLY so did Jessica - and she scored two. The end of the quarter had us at 12-1 with one more quarter to go!!!!

The last quarter had James and Millie as goal shooter and goal attack with Jessica as Centre. We tried so hard to get loads of goals in but sadly none got in until we got ONE by James, that got us to 13-1!! Then the whistle went and we then shared the moment with the other school while eating chocolate biscuits and drinking orange juice. Thanks to Southwell for coming!!

Help For Haiti Assembly

Help for Haiti.

Report by Millie & Shannon, Class 10

For all of last week we were bringing in 10p’s or more for Haiti. We had long rulers for each class and the money that was brought in was put on each ruler.

This week a group of year 6 girls performed a song for Haiti called Sometimes I Wonder. They practiced for 1 week before lunch and they got the hang of it after 2 days.

The money that was brought in will be sent away on Wednesday to help the people of Haiti.

The song:

Sometimes I wonder,

Why people suffer,

Why all the pain and sorrow?

So much injustice

Weeping and sadness,

Here in our world today.

CHORUS

Pain won’t be here forever,

Sadness will turn to laughter

Mourning will turn to dancing

And our tears will be wiped away.

Looking around me,

I see such anger

Why must we hurt each other?

So many people

Living in sadness,

Here in our world today.

CHORUS

Where there is heartache,

Where there is grieving,

I want to feel compassion,

May I give comfort,

 Where there is hurting,

May I bring love again?

We sung this song in front of the whole school and we were shaking!

Singers:

Shannon, Millie, Fiona, Sasha, Ginni-Ann, Lizzie, Summer, Jessica, Chloe.
